Hi friend,

Be honest - how many of your New Year’s resolutions have actually lasted beyond January?

If your answer is “not many,” you’re not alone.

Fun fact: I avoid the gym during the first week of January. Not because I don’t like working out, but because it’s too crowded.

Every January, people play the same game.

Every treadmill, every mat, every corner is full of people who’ve decided, “This is my year”.

But give it two weeks… and the gym is back to normal. The crowd disappears.

Every. Single. Year.

New Year’s resolutions sound great in theory, but they rarely survive contact with real life.

Most resolutions fail not because people are lazy, but because they rely on motivation, not systems.

Think about it. You can set a resolution to “go to the gym 5 days a week,” but if you don’t have:

  • A fixed time to go,
  • A plan for days you’re tired or busy,
  • And a clear why behind it…

…you’ll quit the moment life gets hectic.

That’s why I stopped setting New Year’s resolutions a while ago.

Instead, I start early.

Two months before the new year, I test-drive my goals. It gives me time to:

  • Get a feel for the habit
  • Build rhythm and consistency
  • Fix what’s not working

So when January arrives, I’m already in motion.

This year, skip the “New Year, New Me” game.

Focus on how you’ll make your goals happen. And why they matter to you in the first place.

Because when your why is strong, showing up becomes second nature.

Here’s what to do:

  • Take a piece of paper and write down your resolution.
  • Try to turn it into a system. Answer the “what”, “how”, “when”, and most importantly, “why”.
“You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.” - James Clear

If you want to ride the wave of your new habit till the end of the year, build a system that sticks and keeps you moving.

Even on the days you don’t feel like it.

And watch yourself actually follow through this year.

Love,
N
