Why should you create on LinkedIn?
Because it’s where your three whales hang out:
- Recruiters
- Entrepreneurs
- High Net-worth Individuals (HNIs)
Let’s divide people into three groups and strategise for them.
- Job-seeker
- Consultant
- Creator
By consultant, we mean everyone who provides a service (business owners, coaches, freelancers, etc.).
1. Job Seeker
Your intention is to be visible and reach out to the right set of people.
Do this by:
- Commenting on CXO’s posts to become visible
- Create content (only if you’re comfortable)
- DM the right way
More on #3…
DMing your CV or asking for an opportunity doesn't help. Treat the human on the other side like a real person... because they are one.
You want to get hired, right? For that, show you're worth it.
Use this template instead
“Hi,
[pleasantries]
I’m writing to you because I’ve been eyeing [mention an open role] role at your company.
[mention why you want to be in this company]
I resonate with this role as I’m skilled at [mention skills].
[show why you're the best person at this job, prove it with previous work examples and outcomes]
I’d love to know more about this role and how can I add value to this company.
Regards,
[Your Name]”
2. Consultants
Now, you have a service and you want to attract the right clientele for it.
Do this by:
- Interacting in the comments with the big fish in your field. This way, you’ll also find other people who can be potential clients.
- Talking to potential clients about what problems they face and how can your product solve it
Pro tip: Don't pitch. Instead, present a solution.
- Please don't spam people with info about your company. Keep a sheet of potential clients with their business info, look at what they're up to, and DM/email them instead.
3. Creator
Your focus should be on creating amazing content to build an audience.
These are the people who’d want to come back to read your stuff and maybe even invest in your products and services.
Two things:
1/ Keep your audience in mind
Every time you write.
I’m serious, EVERY single time, ask yourself:
- who is this for?
- why should they read this?
Maintain congruence here.
2/ The work
Here are some quick action steps
- make the first 3 lines catchy
- publish at least 3x/ week
- end with a takeaway
- format well
Bonus Tip 1 🔥
For formatting:
Make short sentences, have enough white spaces, and use bullets to make it more readable. Exactly how you see in this newsletter! Hehe
Bonus Tip 2 🔥
- Reply to all comments in the first 1h (the algorithm loves it)
- Have a CTA in the comments to build an email list
- Add personal stories but with a takeaway
All the best!
Love
