Hi friend,
2026 is here.
And no, this isn’t about setting fluffy resolutions you’ll forget in 3 weeks.
Resolutions get a bad rep. Fair.
They're the reason I don't hit the gym in the first 10 days of January. Because by the second week, the gym starts clearing up with those who set a resolution 🙈
But if you’re serious, the new year is a powerful reset. A clean timeline. A way to track your growth month by month.
So instead of brushing it off as “just another January”, treat it like a rebrand.
A new chapter where you’re in control.
Keyword: Control.
You know this already: at your 9–5, most things are outside your control. Whether you get recognition, a promotion, a bonus, or even keep the job this time next year.
But you can detach from the grip of your 9–5.
You just need some mindset shifts…
1 / No one is coming to save you.
You’re on your own — and that’s a good thing.
You’re not waiting for someone to come change your life.
But you have to move like that. You control the shots, so take them.
2 / You just have to do it once.
The first post.
The first client.
The first $100 outside your paycheck.
It seems intimidating until you do it once. Then it becomes your new baseline. And you get the confidence to keep going.
If starting now feels overwhelming, just remind yourself:
“I just have to do it once.”
3 / You have time.
You’re not late. I know the internet tries to convince you otherwise and keeps giving you FOMO.
I started when most people thought the creator economy was “too crowded”.
Turns out, I was early... and so are you.
Don't underestimate what you can do in 6 months of betting on yourself. All you need is focused effort.
But that also means…
4 / You have to look within.
Avoid the trap of chasing the next “hot side hustle”. Whatever the internet swears will make you a millionaire overnight.
It’s all short-lived. Instead, look at your unique gifts.
Ask yourself:
“What do I do really well and love doing? How can I monetise that?”
For me, that was writing. I’d been at it for decades before I monetised in 2020. While everyone and their cousin was hyping dropshipping as a way to get rich.
5 / You cannot delegate your dreams.
No one cares about what you want out of life. No one is responsible for your happiness or fulfilment.
If you have a vision for your life, it’s up to you to take full ownership of it and make it a reality.
“All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.” — Walt Disney
The good news?
You can start right now with what you have.
You already have everything you need:
- A skill (if one job pays you for it, you can turn it into multiple streams of income)
- The internet (you’re not limited to your city or country)
- A platform (LinkedIn is a goldmine of opportunity, with zero cost to start)
So, start building.
This year will pass anyway. Before you know it, it’ll be December 2026.
Don’t spend another year stuck in the grip of your 9–5. Spend it building something fulfilling. Something that’s 100% yours.
Flip the switch. Start today.
Happy New Year.
Love,
N
