Hi friend,

If you’ve been writing online for a while, but:

  • Your posts aren’t reaching a lot of people
  • You’re putting in the effort consistently, but seeing no results
  • There’s no ROI on your time

Chances are, your ideas are solid, but your writing needs improvement.

Because online writing is a game that plays by its own rules.

So, here are 5 tips to help your work get more traction:

1/ Unlearn

Forget everything you were taught about good writing.

School and work train us to write paragraphs full of complicated jargon.

They teach us: Lengthy = More value

Online, it’s the exact opposite.

People read on their phones. They skim and scroll. If your writing feels too heavy on the eyes or mind, they are gone in 2 seconds.

So:

  • Be snappy and use short sentences
  • Leave white space
  • Use simple language

To retain attention while providing value, write like you talk.

And to do that…

2/ Edit Ruthlessly

Write as you do now. But trim 25% of your draft. Always.

You don’t need more words; you need clarity.

Pro tip: Never edit the same day you write.

Sleep on it.

Come back the next morning, and you’ll instantly see what needs to go.

Every sentence should earn its place.

3/ Build Systems

If you write only when you’re inspired, you’ll publish once a month… at best.

Inspiration is cool, but unreliable.

The attention economy rewards visibility. And to stay visible, you need to stay consistent.

Writing consistently is a game of systems:

  • Have a place where you drop ideas (could be your phone or a notebook)
  • Pick one day a week to write your content
  • Another day to edit
  • Make showing up non-negotiable
  • Stick to that rhythm

When you build a system that fits your life, it’s easy to show up; even on low-energy days.

4/ Give Value

A lot of people use their LinkedIn like a personal diary. Talking only about their thoughts, wins, and experiences.

Cool, but when you’re starting out, nobody cares about all that... yet.

They care about what’s in it for them.

Every post should leave the reader with something: a lesson, a reflection, a next step.

Before hitting post, answer the question: Why should the reader care?

5/ Stay Authentic

The only way to stand out is with original experiences.

Anybody can copy your format, your analogies, your references…

But NO ONE can copy an experience that only you’ve gone through and the lesson you derived from it.

For example, anyone can write about having discipline or building confidence.

But only I can bring my experience of growing up as an overweight kid, using my weight loss as an evolution into a disciplined person who doesn't need validation from society anymore. This journey gave me the confidence to build the independent life I’m living today.

See how that sticks?

If your writing feels too polished, it’ll sound preachy. Add original details.

Finally…

These tips work because they set your foundation.

Do this for 90 days, and your writing will transform. So will your confidence.

You’ll find your flow. And the internet will finally start paying attention.

All the best!

Love,
N
