Hi friend,
This issue is going to be a short one, but my goal is to purely nudge you today.
Into taking imperfect action in November, instead of creating the perfect plan for 2026.
So…
Here’s the story of how, back in 2021, I accidentally became a teacher.
The move that ended up taking me from freelancer ➡️ solopreneur.
No degree. No plan. Just a tweet.
Let’s rewind.
Since 2015, I’ve wanted to do a PhD. But:
- I’ve always sucked at studying
- I love learning, but disliked mugging for exams
- And I definitely wasn’t built for the grind it takes to complete a PhD!
So I parked that dream.
Finished my postgraduate degree. Joined the corporate world.
Fast forward to October 2021.
- I’d already quit my job
- Completed 1 year of writing on Medium
- I was consistently posting on LinkedIn and X (then Twitter)
But I was also bedridden after a surgery.
Bored, scrolling through X, when the idea came to me.
In a spur, I typed out a tweet:
Would anyone like to learn how to write online consistently?
I had a tiny audience. Still…
- 120+ people replied
- ~80 filled out a Google form
- I created a Slack group
- 40 people from 20 countries joined
And just like that, I started teaching.
I shared everything I knew about writing online:
> How to show up
> Write consistently
> Build systems around it
The feedback was amazing.
Hence, I decided to…
- Collect testimonials
- Build a landing page
- Add a price tag
And boom! My first cohort was SOLD OUT!
We had 25/25 enrollments from across the globe 🌍
That one tweet became my business. All because I shared what I knew, without waiting to become an expert.
My point is:
- You don’t have to know everything to teach
- You just have to be 3 steps ahead of someone else
- And be willing to help them get there
Your experience can be someone else’s shortcut.
So, ask yourself:
What do I know that can be shared with someone 3 steps behind me?
Write about that. Post it. Share it.
You don’t need the perfect business plan before starting.
And you definitely don’t need to wait for January to start.
You can start something new in November.
Because sometimes, the best things in your career happen by accident. You just have to be brave enough to take imperfect action.
Love,
N
