Hi friend,
I started writing online in 2020.
And for 5 years, I’ve published through low views, slow growth, and creative blocks.
People often ask me:
- How are you SO consistent?
- How do you not run out of ideas?
- How do you keep showing up every week?
Usually, they’re looking for a secret hack. There isn’t one.
I simply have systems that help me avoid creative burnout.
Ones that make showing up effortless. (Heck, I even started a cohort to teach this!)
So if you’ve ever wondered how I’ve been publishing non-stop for years… Here’s what worked for me:
1 / I Don’t Rely on Inspiration
Inspiration is overly romanticised. If you only write when you feel inspired, you’ll barely write.
Because sh!t happens, and you can't feel inspired everyday!
Chances are, even if it comes to you, you’ll park that inspiration/idea, if you haven’t built the habit of putting in the reps.
(You’ll be shocked at how common that is.)
I get it. Starting is usually the hardest part. Your brain wants to avoid that discomfort at all costs.
That’s why I never wait.
- I have a routine
- I block my calendar
- I show up, even when I don’t have an idea, and the thoughts usually flow
Some of my best-performing posts came from days when I almost didn’t write.
Don’t wait for inspiration. Build your show-up muscle.
2 / I Have Systems
This, you can rely fully on.
It's also what I've been teaching for four years.
During my 9–5, I’d write after work and edit the next morning before work. That became my rhythm.
Now, I still batch-create, edit the next day, and post at fixed times.
This is what works for me.
The point isn’t to copy my system: it’s to build yours.
A system that:
- Fits your energy, hours, and goals
- Feels just the right balance of comfortable, logical, and disciplined
- Can be non-negotiable, without stressing you out.
When you create a system that works for you, you don’t have to think about when or how to write. You just sit down and do it.
3 / Information diet matters
You are what you eat. Quite literally.
(I want to be a French fry 🍟)
With every piece of content you consume, you are curating your taste.
It will reflect in your writing. And whether you want to write in the first place.
- If you consume junk (news, gossip, noise, pop culture), you will be pulled into consuming more.
- If you consume good-quality, thought-provoking content, you will feel inspired to express your thoughts and create more.
I don't give low-quality stuff real estate in my mind.
(it's why I don't use Instagram either!)
I’m very intentional about what I read and who I follow.
Because what you feed your mind becomes the raw material for your writing.
4 / I Enjoy Writing
Okay, everything else aside, this is the core of my consistency.
I love writing.
If I didn’t genuinely enjoy writing, there’s no way I’d have shown up for years.
When you enjoy what you do, you don’t need to push yourself. You’re pulled to it.
Finally...
And those are the real reasons I don’t burn out.
Not because I do less, but because I love what I do, and I’ve built a system to protect that love.
I hope you can, too?
Love,
N
