Hi friend,
As I come closer to being a solopreneur for the last 49.5 months (I know 50 would've sounded way cooler), I thought to share some lessons with you.
They're super small, don't worry.

Soooo...
Here are some mistakes I made, but you shouldn't:
🫰🏼 Moving to the shiniest software cost me a lot of money and didn't yield a high ROI.
For e.g. I paid $2000+/year to Kajabi in 2023 as every big creator hosted their courses there, and I wanted to avoid Gumroad's 10% fee.
But it made the customer journey for those in SE Asia really hard and limited my payout options.
🫰🏼 Not outsourcing enough
I don't come from a background of entrepreneurship. Hence it took me a while to build this mindset. Outsourcing to the right people helps you focus on what truly matters - your creativity.
🫰🏼 Giving too many chances
I've fired someone after giving them lots of chances. I have a soft corner for hiring women because I believe we need more financially independent women. I encourage people to make mistakes, mentor them, and help as much as I can. But sometimes... a hire is just not a fit. And I need to get better at identifying the right time to let go (still learning this).
And here's some stuff that worked wonders:
- Always follow the best. My idols are top global creators. The internet isn’t limited to my country, so why should I be?
- Aim REALLY high, even if you have low self-worth like I did. It helped me tap into customers in 160+ countries.
- Price in USD so people across the globe have an idea. Price conversions lengthen the customer journey.
- Practice your skill every single day so you can get paid well. Be so good that they want to pay you.
- You cannot launch something, so you make money. Who doesn’t want to make money?! But people pay for solutions. Identify a problem and solve it.
- Don’t overthink it. Hit publish and move on - with your writing, products, everything. The creator economy rewards speed.
- I’m impatient as hell, so I deliver quickly instead of waiting for the ‘right time’. I’m working on my impatience, but this has served me well at work.
- Charge for 1% of your work. Make 99% of the content for free.
- If someone has done what you want to, research their journey and integrate those elements into yours.
- Align your business with who you are as a person. I don’t like anything that sucks my energy because I need it for creativity and ideas, so I don’t do free calls or networking events.
See you next week!
Love, N
