I'm going to keep this one short. Because I honestly don't want to give you just things to do anymore.
I just want to give you something to think about.
And share what helps me, with a hope that it helps you. It will, but only once you get moving.
Writing what needs to be said
If you see two out of my three top performing posts this month, I've written about
- lack of work-life balance and boundaries I experienced at a corporate job
- How KPMG is curious about the creator economy
These are important conversations. They need to be out there.
Now. I know many of you cannot do this. But for those of you who can...I'm putting it out there.
That doesn't mean there's no scope for ya'll who have full-time jobs. 90% of my students in my LinkedIn coaching have jobs and ace LinkedIn.
This brings me to...
Why do you want to write?
One thing common I've seen in my students is they have an idea, even if its faint, on why they want to write.
They aren't doing it for the results.
The money.
The outocme.
And that reminds me of myself, when I started. I wrote because I enjoyed writing. I started writing since I was 7 years old, for heaven's sake.
I did it for the joy of it.
Everything else was a bonus!
If you do it because you enjoy the skill, the journey is more fruitful.
Why LinkedIn?
Again - doing it for the money doesn't help. But here's what does. Doing it to
- build a brand
- attract future clients
- become a thought leader
- just see where it takes you!
No one makes money because they want to make money. Money is always a consequence of doing something spectacular.
Don't let this happen
Maybe you’re waiting for the ‘perfect time’.
- I'm too busy.
- I don't know what to write about.
- I’ll pick this up when XYZ project ends at work.
- I have a bunch of topics and cannot narrow down!
Most people never start because they're too busy contemplating
Time is ticking.
And the best time to start is... now.
