Fun fact: actually it's more sad than fun ->
Most creators, even with 100K followers, cannot monetise their audience. Regardless of what platform they're on.
And it's a shame when this happens on LinkedIn.
Because LinkedIn has mostly working, paying people.
Here are some mistakes I see them make, and perhaps this will help you spot the blind spots in your own game:
1/ Clutter
Profile says one thing, picture is casual, no header, and content is all over the place.
It's too cluttered and doesn't help build an audience, let alone monetise.
2/ Journaling
...is a BRILLIANT habit!
Just not when done online :) Because:
- if you're new, nobody cares
- when you build a following, people care, but only a bit
- people want value and will only read your stuff if they gain from it
Quit writing about what you did last weekend.
It's easier to do this when you...
3/ Write for the reader
If you want to write for yourself, write a diary.
If you want to write to build an audience, write for the reader. If you want them to hit like, comment, and follow - make it valuable for them.
If you ever want them to pay you, do this A LOT.
For a long time.
Short and sweet newsletter, as I told you.
But by no means should you mistake it for something easy.
90% of people make these mistakes, which is why they'll never earn.
And you might be making them too.
All the best!
Love,
N
